Cocktail Party

Concept of mobile app offering a variety of cocktails recipes for beginner bartenders and (non)alcoholic beverage lovers

Problems to solve

I discovered the idea for this app after a conversation with a few practiced bartenders and after seeing work of their less experienced colleagues who often struggled with more complicated cocktails. If they didn’t know the exact recipe, they scrolled through websites to get familiar with ingredients or directions. If there are a lot of people in the bar waiting for their drinks it can be stressful. The designed app should also make the recipes learning process easier because it contains the most important information in one place and gives users the possibility to save their favourite recipes for later

Who are the potential users?

Designed app should be helpful for bartenders who begin their cocktail journey or simply for cocktail lovers

Design process

1. Research & User Interviews

I started with a conversation with potential users and research of available recipes mobile apps in general, then I focused only on apps with cocktail recipes. It allowed me to distinguish the main functions and features of the app which I present below

2. User flows and lo-fi wireframes

The next step was to plan the structure of the application. On the basis of them I created low fidelity paper wireframes

User flow

LoW Fidelity Wireframes

3. Hi-FI Wireframes

Next, based on previous work I prepared high fidelity wireframes

4. Final Product

Finally, I worked on the colours and graphical elements of the app. I decided to use dark colours for background and neon colours for buttons and other graphic elements to mimic old neon lamps. In the end, I added some of my photos created for one of the cocktail bars in Poznań for better visualization of the idea
